The equipment is for the protection of pipes etc. laid on a sea or river bed etc. It comprises an oblong plate-type structure laid on the sea bed, and having a central portion (3) clear of the latter, and two side portions (7) diverging from each other downwards towards the bottom at an angle between 10 and 30 deg. The structure is sufficiently large, and is of material of sufficiently high specific gravity, so that no anchoring is needed, and is of a shape such as to avoid damage from dragging ship anchors or trawl gear. Its edges can be much steeper than the rest of the structure, and of a height such that the flukes of an anchor cannot hook under them. |
