<p>Manually actuated drive mechanism for wheelchair comprises a ratchet-like clamping block (8) which is mounted on a guide arm (4) in such a way as to be radially movable by means of a two armed tilt lever (6) attached to the guide arm. The guide arm is pref. guided by means of a roller carriage with slide member, of which the rollers engage the drive ring or the wheel of the chair from one side, while the slide member engages the drive ring or wheel the other side. At the front end of the tilt lever is pref a widened zone (20) extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the tilt lever. The arrangement requires less effort to advance the wheelchair and avoids the risk of soiling the sleeve of the user.</p> |
