1503286 Hardening foundry cores W LUBER 1 Oct 1976 [2 Oct 1975] 40961/76 Heading B3G In a method of hardening a foundry core made of a mixture of sand and curable compounds the core is exposed, in a die 1, to a gaseous catalyst and carrier gas stored in a measuring vessel 8 and then to heated compressed air stored in a measuring vessel 11, the volume, pressure and temperature of the compressed air being higher than those of the catalyst-gas mixture. Both the catalyst-gas mixture and the compressed air are rapidly injected into the die via valves 21, 22 and 21<SP>1</SP>, 22<SP>1</SP> respectively and a distribution head 23. The catalyst-gas mixture may be stored at a volume of 1 litre at 30-50‹ C., whereas the compressed air at a volume of 10 litres is stored at 100-115‹ C., the respective pressures being 2 atmospheres and 4-8 atmospheres. |
