<p>1504377 Filter element YAMAKAWA INDUSTRY CO Ltd and NIFCO INC 5 June 1975 [8 June 1974] 24231/75 Heading BID A filter element is made by injection moulding a pair of semi-cylindrical frames of plastics, hinged together along adjacent sides 4, 4' with a filter medium 6 embedded therein, one frame having end closure discs 8, 9 integral therewith which engage in grooves 10, 11 in the other frame when the frames are pivoted together. The outer sides 4 and 4' may then be joined by welding or adhesive, or one side is provided with a catch (12) to engage over the other (Figs. 6- 9 not shown). Filter medium 6 may be metal mesh or plastics net, and a single piece may be embedded in both frames so as to serve as the hinge 7, in which case inner sides 4, 4' and central struts 5, 5' could be omitted. If the frames have separate sections of filter medium, then inner sides 4, 4' are integrally connected by a thin section of plastics as in Figs. 8, 9. The element is used on inward flow in a petrol tank, the outlet tube being inserted in aperture 13.</p> |
