<p>1501386 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 23 Jan 1975 [6 Feb 1974] 05508/74 Heading H2E A plug 10 which can be fastened in engagement with a socket 40 comprises at least one resilient tine 21, 22 for engaging a stud 41 on the socket and a locking member 15 movable between a release and a locking position on the plug body and having a projection 62, 63 which in the locking position engages a free end of the tine and locks it in engagement with the stud. The plug body comprises an annular collar 14 to which is secured a plastics ring 18 having three pairs (only one visible in Fig. 1) of resilient tines 21, 22 spaced around its circumference. Mounted for movement against a spring 24 within a nose 12 of the plug body is a second plastics ring 20 comprising teeth 31, (32, 33, Fig. 6, not shown) which project and slide between respective tines 21, 22. In use, the nose 12 is inserted into the socket with splines 13 engaging keyways (not shown) and the ring 20 being pushed back against the spring 24 and the teeth 31, (32, 33) moving back from the free end of the tines 22, 22 to adjacent their roots. The tubular locking member 15 is then moved to the left as seen in Fig. 1 such that inwardly projecting pegs 62, 63 on the locking member engage the tines and lock them around respective studs 41. In a modification only one tine 21 is used to engage each stud 41, the peg 63 bearing against the stud opposite to where it is engaged. Detents 51, 52, (53) are optionally present on the ring 18 to engage grooves 66, 67 in the locking member.</p> |
