A raw material waste, suitable for hydrothermal treatment, in this case clay slurry, is put through a separator where most of the water is removed. A powder waste produced at a later stage is then added to the thickened slurry in a mixer after which the material continues to a granulator. The granulating process may be combined with the mixing operation in which the dry powder addition produces a porous granulate. This granulate passes through a dryer pref. fluid bed-type, which allows quick, even drying of the granules, using the exhaust gasses from the roasting oven, via a duct. The now sufficiently firm granules are subsequently roasted to 600 degrees C, i.e. below the baking or sintering temperatures, in a roasting oven. Separate control of each process stage gives closely controlled product of uniform standard.
|
