1484626 Automatic control ANSCHUTZ & CO GmbH 11 Nov 1974 [13 Nov 1973] 48749/74 Heading G3N A reference transmitter, settable to a desired course angle as a reference value for a course controller installed on board a ship, comprises an actual course indicator, and an indicator showing set course in relation to actual course, the set course corresponding to the angular position of a shaft which is adjusted by a stepping motor under control of an electronic pulse emitter receiving signals from a setting means and a digital computer which in a programmed transmitter mode stops the stepping motor when feedback shows that the set course has reached a set value or the stepping motor has completed the prescribed steps. As shown, a stepping motor 1 is controlled by an electronic pulse emitter 9 and drives via gearing 2 an input of a differential unit 3 and an angle converter 4 to a desired course angle. The actual course is supplied by a gyro-compass G to a second input of the unit 3. The output of the unit 3 positions a course error indicator 5 and sets a pointer of an indicator 6 showing set course in relation to actual course. The course error is fed to a known course controller 8. In a programmed mode, related by a switch 10 signals from the setting means 11 and error transmitter 5 are barred from the emitter 9 and the pulse emitter 9 causes the stepping motor 1 to rotate in response to two different signals produced by a digital computer 12 in response to feedback from the angle converter 4 and pulses from the emitter 9 indicative of the number of increments to achieve the adjusted set course. In an alternative embodiment the input from gyro-compass G is through a synchro-transmitter and in a further embodiment the differential unit 14 is replaced by a differential synchro-transmitter. |
