The composition is obtained by keeping the constituents of a mixture comprising: - a conventional bitumen with a penetration of between 30 and 220, - an organic compound containing olefinic unsaturation which has an average molecular mass of between 300 and 30,000, corresponding to the formula I in which the symbols are defined in Claim 1, - chemically unbonded sulphur, in contact, at a temperature of between 140 and 220 DEG C. The contact is maintained for a sufficient period to ensure the binding of the organic compound to the bitumen. The organic compound improves the mechanical properties of the bitumen and, by virtue of the fact that it binds chemically to the bitumen, the composition is not subject to demixing during storage. The composition can be employed in particular as surface coating for road dressing. <IMAGE> |
