<p>New cephalosporins are of formula (I) In the formula R and R1 are both H or both hydrolysable or hydrogenolysable gps. or R1 can also be opt. substd. 1-4C alkyl, A is H or an equiv. of an alkali(ne earth) metal or an amine. (I) have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria, esp. penicillin-resistant Staphylococci, E.coli, Klebsiella, Salmonella and Proteus spp. A typical cpd. is 3-acetoxymethyl-7-(2-(2-tritylamino-4-thiazolyl)-2-tritylhydroxyi- mino-acetamido)-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid. In an example, this is prepd. starting from ethyl gamma-chloro-alpha-oximinoacetyl-acetate.</p> |
