1503706 Hard alloy particles CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 1 May 1975 [2 May 1974] 18269/75 Heading C7A Hard cast, spheroidal particles of alloys containing either Cr 25-61 B 6-12 Fe bal plus impurities or Cr 61-70 B 6-12 C 0À05-2À0 Fe bal plus impurities are made by pouring the molten alloy on to a hard surface to produce droplets and rapidly quenching the droplets to produce solid cast spheroidal particles. These may be plated with Ni, Cr or Cu by normal electro-plating techniques and either cast or shaped with a homogenous block or mixed at ambient temperature with a particulate ductile matrix material and sintered to give an abrasion and wear resistant composite alloy. |
