The members 15, 7, 7<SP>1</SP> all move in elliptical paths, and when the flat surfaces 17, 16 of the members 7, 7<SP>1</SP> come into contact with a sheet or sheets they are moving in opposite directions, whereby the top sheet is fed forwards, while any other sheets are returned to the hopper 12. The direction of such movement of the members 7, 7<SP>1</SP> may be inclined to the feed path so as to also move the sheets towards a side register member.
