<p>1504084 Cutting apparatus BRODERNE HERRMANN AB 28 April 1976 [29 April 1975] 17277/76 Heading B4B An apparatus for cutting a continuously moving web 2 of material, e.g. paper or plastics, comprises a roll 1 over which the material is adapted to run, a cradle 6, 7, extending along the length of the roll, a slide 9 freely movable along the cradle and a freely rotatable cutter disc 4 attached to the slide and adapted to be pressed against the roll, the cutter being disposed at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the roll. The cradle is formed by a pair of guide rails 6 connected to end frames 7 provided with pivot shafts 8. The cutter disc 4 is freely rotatable in a fork 10 secured to the slide 9; the periphery of the disc may be formed with points in order to form a line of perforations across the web. In use, when it is desired to sever a web, the cradle is pivoted either manually or by power, to bring the cutter disc into contact with the roll. Due to the inclination of the cutter disc relative to the axis of the roll, the slide is caused to move along the guides and thereby allow the disc to sever the web. A further freely rotatable wheel 5 is mounted on the slide with an opposite inclination such that by pivoting the cradle in the opposite direction, the slide can be returned to its starting point, the periphery of the wheel 5 can be covered with a friction material. Alternatively the wheel 5 may be in the form of a cutting disc. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the cutter disc 4 and wheel 5 are mounted on a carrier (17) which is pivotally mounted on the slide (15) about an axis (16) which is perpendicular to the axis of the roll.</p> |
