Low noise pneumatic tyre - with acoustically optimised walls for damping of natural vibrations

<p>A conventional pneumatic tyre on a conventional wheel rim encloses a thick-walled tube which has been reinforced by tissue plies or cords. Alternatively, the side walls or the tread carry on the side fluid-filled pockets which have been optimised acoustically and run parallel to the tyre contour. This results in a considerable damping of the natural vibrations of a tyre by relative movements of tube and tyre or by local increase of the mass so that the tyre causes less road noise at speed.</p>
