A container 21 is mounted in the plug and is filled with a catalyst 12 for recombining the hydrogen and oxygen gases evolved during operation of the battery. The gases pass through a glass wool filter 24 and holes 22 into the catalyst and the water formed by the catalyst is returned to the electrolyte 7 via a glass wool filter 25 and holes 23. A vent tube 27 is provided in the centre of the plug. |
