1466279 Offshore structures AKERS MEK VERKSTED AS 5 July 1974 [5 July 1973] 29924/74 Heading E1H The deck of an offshore platform is fabricated, e.g. on land, while being supported at points 13 by which it will be supported when at its offshore location, to minimise distortion of the structure when in place and facilitates outfitting during construction, the deck is being transported by barges 5 which are raised (e.g. by ballasting or by the tide) to take the load of the supports 2, and subsequently the barges are lowered on site to lower the deck onto the support columns of the platform. The support columns may be supported on the sea bed, or semi-submersible. The deck may be of cellular construction, with intersecting partitions arranged at right angles to form a series of boxes into which equipment may be installed. |
