The automatically unfolding inset for a book or magazine has a sheet which is folded to define fixed and pivoted parts. The fixed part is glued to a lower sheet of the publication, the pivoted part being glued to one face of a sheet with advertising material on its other face. An elastic element is hooked over the pivoted part and engages with notches cut in the upper edge of the fixed part. The elastic element is tensioned so that when the publication is opened, the pivoted part flicks up and draws with it the sheet with the advertising material.
