False twisting glass strand coated with binder - using angled air jets with air striking strand circumferentially

A textile strand is formed by feeding a wet textile strand into a turbulent zone. The strand is false twisted by air passing circumferentially to its longitudinally axis. It is then passed through a drying zone at sufficient temperature to remove the majority of the moisture. The strand is finally rapidly taken up on a spool in successive layers with individual strands laying side-by-side in each layer. Method is used for prodn. of a rounded well consolidated strand e.g. pref. glass strand. Formation of large strand packages is possible from a wet forming package free of binder migration.
