Sea access for reinforced concrete submarine station - has decompression chamber communicating with sea and air-filled gallery at normal pressures

The sea to air hatch includes a compression/decompression chamber (6) and is for use on reinforced concrete submarine installations (1) e.g. an oil storage station. The decompression chamber has two sealed doors (8, 7) which communicate with the sea (20) and a gallery (9) resp. The gallery is dry and at normal atmospheric pressures and an air-filled transition-chamber (2) at ambient sea-pressure interposes the decompression chamber (6) and the sea (20). The decompression chamber takes the form of a capsule and the capsule or the access is at least partly built into the reinforced concrete sub-structure. The capsule may have a horizontally cylindrical form, be built into a wall (4) which divides the installation from the sea and have a sealed sea-access door (7). The latter door may lead into the transition chamber (2) which has a platform (10) and a ladder (11) leading down into the sea-filled compartment.
