<p>A mechanism for transforming linear motion to rotary is housed in a cylinder (2) with a shaft (6) projecting from each end. The shafts are mounted in bearings (7) in tubular extensions (1) so that they are free to move axially and to rotate. A disc (5) is mounted inside the housing (2) on each shaft and carries a nut (10) with a thread having a steep lead angle. These nuts engage a rod (12) and, as the shafts are pushed towards each other this rod is forced to rotate. This rotary motion is transmitted by the levers (15, 16) to the rollers (18) which roll around the surface of the inner cylinders (3).</p> |
