<p>The sound-absorbent barrier has corrugations on one or more faces, and is particularly for the reduction of noise generated by road traffic. It is designed for installation along motor-ways and their central reservations and also acts as a crash barrier, absorbing shock loads by stretching in the lengthwise direction. It is built up of components alongside and one above each other, each of box-section and with plates held apart by vertical U-section members between, and the space between the plates can be at least partly filled with filler material. To- allow each component to be mounted directly between the adjacent ones without the use of a post etc, each of the vertical panels (1) has a U-shaped throat formed by the vertical members (10, 11). The base of the throat is formed by the body of the member, while the throat slides form arms covering the corresponding ones of adjacent components (5). They are secured to the latter by fixing devices passing through openings in the arms.</p> |
