<p>An optical slip ring comprises a rotatable output member (3) and a second rotatable member (2) located intermediate the output member (3) and a stationary input member (1), the input member (1) having a plurality of equispaced light inputs (A, B, C, D) and the output member (3) having a corresponding number of light outputs (A min , B min , C min , D min ) and the second rotatable member (2) having a coherent strip formed of a plurality of bundles of optical fibres (1 to 24) for transmitting light from the light inputs (A, B, C, D) on the input member to the light outputs (A min , B min , C min , D min ) on the output member, the arrangement being such that a continuous light output is produced from the light outputs on the output member (3) only when the intermediate rotatable member (2) is rotated at half the speed of the output member (3).</p> |
