Hood for hair dryer - has edge seal to maintain low pressure zone to increase speed of drying

The hood (1) for a hair dryer is provided along the edge (2) with a sealing ring (7) of resilient material. A second ring (3) is provided with a row of holes (5) which allow air to flow into the hood (1). The rings (3)(7) also serve to maintain a space between the scalp and the internal surface of the hood. The hood (1) is supported by a tube (8) on a stand (11) so that its height can be adjusted. A fan (12) sucks air out of the hood and so maintains an atmospheric depression inside the hood. This low pressure causes the moisture to evaporate more easily and so reduces the time to dry the hair. The hood is made of a good heat conduction material so that an external source of radiant heat can be used to dry the hair.
