Saw blade, esp. for gang saw, has a row of elongated slits arranged at intervals along the blade with stress-free regions between them. The slits have rounded corners and are aligned at right angles to the cutting edge. The width of the slits across the width of the blade is at least 20% and at most 70% of the blade width. The width of the slits in the longitudinal direction of the blade is at most 50% of the spacing between the slits. The slits can be designed with a broadened region at the end furthest from the cutting edge of the saw. Use of such slits provides the saw with a large moment of resistance against bending about the blade's longitudinal axis.
