Apparatus to practice golf strokes or swings etc. has a golf ball (1) connected to a line (2) and produces a permanent change of shape through the stroke. A braking carriage (3) is mounted on a profile and the brake pressure may be released by a lever movement. A sliding rail (4) which has a turntable and swivel link indicates the power or length of the stroke made on a horizontal and vertical scale. The guide line (2) runs over rollers or through eyelets thus producing the indication.
