Plastic e.g. polystyrene cover for a rocket tube - is made in segments flexibly attached to the tube end

The plastic rocket tube cover made pref. oversize, in several segments of very light, elastic material, e.g. polystyrene. Each segment is fastened to the rocket tube by a strap. The straps are pref. all of the same length, and are irremovably joined to the tube and to the side of the segments nearest the rocket. The strips are long enough to hold the tampon segments clear until the rocket's tail has passed.
