<p>The rotor blade de-icing appts. uses hot gas from a gas turbine or other built-in source. In the former case the gas is air taken from the compressor discharge, piped (2, 5) via a heat exchanger (3) into the hollow rotor shaft (6). From this it flows through a diluting injector (10), entraining ambient air, and a mixing length (11) into the blade (9). The blade gas duct (12) is linded with a varying thickness layer of lagging (13) so that blade surface temp. is constant over the whole length. A flow accelerating device (15) can be fitted near the tip, to increase heat transfer.</p> |
