Training apparatus for canoeing consisting of a training frame (1, 2) having a space for the canoeist rigid in a longitudinal direction and with a freely movable paddle (8) fitted with pull elements (9, 10) attached to the ends carrying the paddle blades and connected to a rope (13). The rope is led over a reversing roller (15) and both ends of the rope are also attached to rope pulleys (12, 14) rotating in opposite directions each of which has to overcome a resistance (13) when the rope unwinds. In the case of Canadian canoe training the paddle stock is divided along its centre.
