Pathway construction for inclined dam embankment - uses vertical piles to support side walls behind which pathway is formed

Pathway construction for the sloping inclines of dams involves driving vertical piles (10) at intervals into the incline and using the projecting ends of the piles as supports for a side wall (13). The wall panels are held in place by U-shaped clips (14) whose free ends are bent down over the top edge of the panel. Before filler material is placed behind the retaining wall the dam ground in this region has a solidifying and strengthening agent force into it. At intervals along the dam short sections are left blank and are excavated to form a channel (21) which is filled with a core which does not react with the agent. After the dam ground has been consolidated the core is removed and the empty channel filled with a percolating material such as fine gravel.
