Vacuum switchgear with overvoltage reducing auxiliary electrodes - has ignition circuit for auxiliary electrodes which lie at contact sides

The auxiliary electrodes (16, 17) of the vacuum switch casing serve for reducing overvoltages. They are supplied with ignition voltage by a separate circuit. Two such oppositely mounted auxiliary electrodes are provided, laterally next to the switching contacts (3, 4). The arrangement of the auxiliary electrodes and switching contacts is such that a discharge between them actuates the of the discharge between the contacts. The auxiliary electrodes form preferably a current loop in the direction of the switching contacts.
