Blunt connection or welding of optical light guide fibres is by holding in mounts with the aid of electric arc or sparks. Two fibre mounts (21, 22) for two light guide fibres (11, 12) are connected to each other by means of a common guide (23). Each of the two fibre mounts (21, 22) is provided with parallel channels (24, 25 or 25, 26) for seating two light guide fibres. The main channel (25) is the exact extension of the channel of the other fibre mount. The second channel (24 or 26) is arranged on the one or the other side of the main channel (25). One fibre mount (21) is connected to the armature of an electromagnet.
