摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal display device which can prevent the deterioration in the characteristics of MIM elements by forming the insulating layers of the MIM elements by a vapor phase method and forming at least one of 1st and 2nd conductors into a two-layered structure. CONSTITUTION:The nonlinear resistance elements of the liquid crystal display device constituted by connecting the nonlinear resistance elements in series to the respective picture elements of at least one substrate 1 of two sheets of insulating substrates to support a liquid crystal layer are constituted of the MIM elements having the structure in which the insulating films 4 are inserted between the 1st conductors 2 as bus-line electrodes and the 2nd conductors 3 as picture element electrodes. The insulating films 4 are formed by the vapor phase method and at least one of the 1st and 2nd conductors is made into the two-layered structure, by which the drawbacks at the time of using anodized films as the insulating films are eliminated and the characteristics of the MIM elements are freely controllable; in addition, there is no need for making fine working at a high degree. Hard carbon films are preferably used as the insulating films 4 to be formed by the vapor phase method.</p>
