<p>Plant is for the press. resistance welding of small workpieces using a.c., where the sec. of a welding transformer is connected to two coaxial electrodes (a,b); and the workpieces are located between electrodes (a,b). Each electrode (a,b) is provided with an auxiliary electrode (c,d). During welding, one electrode (b) is connected in the sec., circuit of the transformer via electrodes (c,d), which are pref. tubular and form a chamber in which electrodes (a,b) can move axially; the chamber may have an inlet and outlet for inert gas. The two leads of the sec., are pref. connected to electroes (a,c), the current flowing in the direction (a,b,d,c) during welding. Used e.g. for welding the cup and lid. of a relay housing. The auxiliary electrodes are employed to reduce the high induction losses which normally occur.</p> |
