Thrust nozzle tilting gear for air, space craft control - using annular flexible element in jet pipe and hydraulic operated jack

The thrust nozzle tilting gear for ir, space craft control is intended for 10-20 deg. tilt angles. It comprises an annual flexible element (13) forming a universal joint between jet pipe (11) and nozzle (12) and hydraulic jack units arranged to control the angle between the two. Holding units (15, 22) are fitted in pairs equidistant from the nozzle axis (14), at right angles to one another; each pair linked on the pressure side by a hydraulic circuit embodying locking and leakage compensating arrangements. To each pair is linked one control unit (16), with a separate supply system, which does the tilting. Holding units are biassed to centre the nozzle if hydraulic pressure fails.
