Doubled headed slide needles are used in a links-links warp knitter, which are mounted loosely and individually between the leading and trailing sinker guide bars. The double headed slide needles move through the slides of the leading slide bar between the guide sinkers of the leading sinker guide bar towards the rear between the guide sinkers of the trailing sinker guide bar. Vice versa, the slides of the trailing slide bar move the double headed slide needles between the guide sinkers of the trailing sinker guide bar forwards between the guide sinkers of the leading sinker guide bar. The mechanism allows the trailing needle head to form a row of stitches with the rear warps with the next row being executed by the leading needle head forming stitches with the forward warps. This ensures that the legs of the stitches are not visible in the middle of the fabric and that the sinker stitches lie visibly forwards and backwards on both sides of the material.
|
