PURPOSE:To execute the routine of a firmware corresponding to the number of editions of a mask by providing a register included in a scan pass circuit with a means for storing the edition number information of the mask of the large scale integrated circuit. CONSTITUTION:The storage contents of all the registers constituting the scan pass circuit are outputted to a scan output pin 8 through a data bus 14. At that time, data corresponding to the history register 3 out of the data outputted from the pin 8 are selectively extracted. Thereby, the firmware can read out the number of editions of the mask history of the large scale integrated circuit. Thereby, the routine of the firmware corresponding to the number of editions of the mask can be executed based upon the read result, the value of the registers included in the scan pass circuit are destroyed by scanning operation and all the extracted data are returned from a scan input pin 9 to respective registers by scanning operation.
