1503089 Retractable headlamps DR ING hcf PORSCHE AG 27 July 1976 [9 Aug 1975] 31280/76 Heading F4R Mechanism for moving a headlamp between a retracted position A and an operative position B and for locking the lamp in the operative position comprises an electric motor 18 driving a crank 20 fixed on the motor drive shaft, a pair of pivoted links 21, 22 connecting the crank to the shaft 3 on which the headlamp is secured, and a lever 9 freely rotatable on the shaft 3 and adapted to abut a pin 23 on the crank. When the motor is energized to rotate the crank in a clockwise direction the first part of the rotation, between the lines E and F, produces no rotation of the shaft 3 but turns the lever 9 in a counterclockwise direction causing a simultaneous rotation of a locking lever 10 which is connected to the lever 9 by a link 11. A lug 14 on the lever 10 is thereby disengaged from a recess 15 in a locking member 16 secured to the headlamp. Further rotation of the crank 20 through 180 degrees brings the headlamp from its operative position B to its retracted position A. When it is desired to return the headlamp to its operative position the motor is again energized and the clockwise rotation of the crank is continued through a further 180 degrees so that the crank resumes its original position, the shaft 3 being rotated in the reverse direction by the links 21, 22. The lug 14 abuts a cam surface 26 on the locking member 16 as the headlamp approaches its operative position and snaps into the recess 15. |
