<p>1502153 Radiation shutter CGR-MEV 8 April 1975 [9 March 1974] 14434/75 Heading H5R For mounting in the wall of an irradiation room to obstruct a particulate beam, a shutter comprising a steel cylinder K with axial journals 1, 2 is rotatable in steel sleeve 5 of radius R pivoting in axial holes 8, 10 in integral steel plate 6 and detachable plate 7. Either "through" hole 3 or blind hole 4, 180 degrees apart, both of diameter d and equidistant L from axis XX, by turning cylinder K to one of two stable positions by means of control system 15, can be aligned with holes 9, 11 set on axis YY parallel to XX and at distance L therefrom. The dimensions obey the relationship: The "pit" 4 may be lined with radiation-absorbing material, e.g. Cd, and its base may be fitted with a chamfered plug (Fig. 4, not shown) to re-align the bottom.</p> |
