<p>1480910 Cutting-out presses SIDLAW INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 Dec 1975 [27 Dec 1974] 55894/74 Heading B4B A cutting apparatus for blanking products, e.g. carpet tiles from flexible sheet material, e.g. carpet, comprises upper and lower members 30, 10, a cutting blade 13 carried by the member 10 and having a cutting edge defining the peripheral shape of the products to be cut, a support member 12 located within the confines of the shape and having an aperture therein, a roller 15 mounted on the lower member 10 and movable through the aperture to and from an ambush position in which the roller is depressed below the plane defined by the cutting edge. The blade 13 is supported on the member 12 which is itself secured to members 11. As shown in Fig. 1 several rollers 15 are mounted on shafts and adapted to co-operate with their respective apertures 14. The shafts are rotated by a chain-drive 18 and belts 17 and rotatably mounted in a frame 20 which is slidably movable on posts 21; the frame is urged by springs 22 to normally move the rollers above the cutting edge of the blade. In operation sheet material, e.g. carpet, is intermittently fed by a gripper device 43A, 43B between the upper and lower members 30, 10. As the upper platen member moves downwardly to press the material against the blade it abuts adjustable screws 24 thereby moving the rollers below the level of the cutting edge. After cutting the platen rises and allows the rollers to rise thereby disengaging the workpieces from the blade and, by the rotation of the rollers, move the waste material and workpieces to a delivery table. The ejection of the workpiece from the blade may be assisted by a spring-loaded plate or block of rubber.</p> |
