The multiolefins in the reaction mixture from hexene-1 and cyclooctene are typically of the formulae and where n is typically 1, 2 or 3. Suitable catalysts for the initial reaction (a) are mixtures of organometallic compounds, tungsten or molybdenum compounds and, usually, oxygen or an oxygen or sulphurcontaining compound. The examples refer to (a) the production of multiolefin reaction products by reacting hexene-1, pentene-1 or propylene with cyclooctene, cyclopentene, 1,5-cyclooctadiene or 1-methyl-1,5-octadiene in the presence of WCl 6 or WF 6 /EtAlCl 2 or Bu 4 Sn/ EtOH or Et 2 O followed by (b) addition of pentene-1, hexene-1 or an ethylene/propylene mixture in major amounts to the reaction products and copolymerization therewith in the presence of Et 3 Al/Et 3 Al-TiCl 4 -VCl 4 reaction product, Et 2 AlCl/alpha TiCl 3 or Et 3 Al 2 Cl 3 / VOCl 3 . The copolymers may be sulphur cured.</p> |
