1425992 Magnetic Fe-Co alloy WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 8 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 6231/73 Heading C7A Alloy for use in a transformer core consists of:- the balance, apart from incidental impurities, being Fe. The alloy may be hot worked at 1000-1100‹C, cold worked in two or more stages with intermediate anneal(s) at 800‹C up to the Ac 1 temperature of the composition, the last cold working stage effecting a reduction in crosssectional area of 50-75% and finally annealed in the same temperature range (e.g. in a reducing atmosphere with a dew point less than -40‹C for 24-48 hours) to give a (110)[001] texture, a primary recrystallized microstructure and normal grain growth. For the production of a (100)[001] texture the cold working is effected in one or more stages at least the last effecting a reduction in cross section of over 75% the other details being as above. When a (110)[001] texture with a secondary recrystallized microstructure is desired the cast melt is hot worked between 1250‹C and the highest temperature that does not cause burning, cold working in two or more stages at least the last of which cause a cross-section reduction of 50-75% and with intermediate annealing as above, then decarburizing annealing at 760‹-870‹C in hydrogen with a dew point over +4‹C and finally box annealing at 1100‹-1300‹C.
|
