1413386 Releasable touch-and-close fabrictype fastener KANEBO Ltd 6 Aug 1973 [19 Aug 1972] 37228/73 Heading E2S A male piece of a releasable touch-andclose fabric-type fastener, provided with a plurality of male elements 3 each of which consists of a stem 3a and a cap 3A laterally expanded at the top thereof and each of which is composed of a monofilament piece projected upright from a base fabric 2, is characterised in that each of the male elements 3 is composed of a first polyamide of a lower melting point than a second polyamide of which the said base fabric is mainly composed. The temperature difference between the melting points of the first and second polyamides is desirably more than 20‹C and preferably in a range between 70‹ and 80‹C. The first polyamide is preferably one selected from nylon 6 homopolymer and nylon 6- nylon 66 copolymers while the second polyamide is preferably nylon 66 homopolymer. The fastener is manufactured from a double woven, or knitted, fabric wherein two base fabrics 2, Fig. 2A, are interconnected by threads I of polyamide monofilament, the base fabrics 2 being separated from each other, e.g. by cutting, to provide a plurality of upright monofilament elements 3, Fig. 2c, on each fabric, and the tip of each element being fused by applying heat to form a laterally expanded, mushroom-shaped, head 3b. The two different polyamides can be uniformly dyed in a one-dye bath under controlled dyeing conditions, and wrinkling can be effectively avoided. An example described gives tabulated results for differences of the melting points between the polymers employed, and the qualities of the resultant male pieces. |
