The arrangement for fixing the position of an outwardly curved object (8), such as a paper roll, on a supporting surface (5) comprises a wedge-shaped support block (1) whose bottom face (2) can be rigidly coupled to the surface. The bottom face (2) has an integral member (3) through which the block (1) can be non-slidably fixed to the surface (5) under the action of the weight of the object (8). This member may be a peg (3) capable of engaging a bore (6) in the surface (5), whilst recess (7, 9) eliminates the effect of the weight of the object. This recess (7) in the block acts (1) as a purchase point for a lever.
