In order to display the water level in a hydroponic culture, the invention proposes to fit the water level gauge in the pipe piece (10) such that the position of the pipe piece can be easily seen without introduction and removal by suction of the liquid nutrients being impaired. A floating container (12) is fixedly connected to the pipe piece (10) via a web (41). Slots (14, 15) guarantee a favourable connection between the liquid introduced and the pipe piece or the gauge (29). The entire unit is produced as an injection-moulded plastic part. In addition, an essential advantage of the invention is its space-saving quality. <IMAGE>
