The watch case has the watch glass (5) held in position via a peripheral seal (1), which encloses the side edges (2) of the watch glass (5). This seal (1) fits into a groove around the upper inside edge of the watch case (8). The groove, into which the seal (1) fits, may be defined by a lip projecting inwards around the watch glass aperture in the watch case (8) and by a support ring (9) for the watch movement. The peripheral edge (2) of the watch glass (5) may have a rectangular cross-section, with the seal ring (1) having the internal and external surfaces of similar configuration.
