<p>The cable control, particularly for vehicle controls such as accelerators etc. consists of a sheath, made from plastic reinforced with helical wire, through which the cable runs. All fittings to attach the sheath to the body of the vehicle are plastic and moulded on. For a control cable for an automatic gear box the cable is fitted at each end with fastenings. The remote control consists of a cylinder including a boss with a projecting rim which clips through a hole in the wall of the bodywork. Inside the cylinder is a longitudinal slider, mounted on part of the sheath, which consists of a smooth portion, a collar, a screw threaded portion and another collar. The slider is spring loaded and the cable length can be adjusted.</p> |
