<p>A resilient sealing strip for the door of a refrigerator or other piece of equipment consists of a U section strip (1) with a hole through it at one point, into which is sealed a spring loaded valve (5). When the door is shut, the flexible lips (43) are deformed against the frame forming a seal. At the same time, the space between them is compressed, and the air is forced out of the region, through the valve. A suction is thus created, which holds the door shut. To open the door again more easily, a handle can be incorporated to open the valve so as to release the vacuum.</p> |
