PURPOSE:To obtain a solid-state image pickup element having doubled horizontal resolution by forming a transparent film which has a refracting function causing a horizontal shift of half of horizontal picture element pitch over a photoelectric conversion part so that odd- and even-numbered horizontal scanning lines are covered. CONSTITUTION:Transparent films 20 and 21 having the refracting function are provided over the photoelectric conversion part 1 and a vertical register 3 to cover odd- and even-numbered horizontal scanning lines. The transparent film 20 is in a rightward slanting-up shape having recessed parts almost in the center of opaque films 14 and also has surfaces parallel to the surface of a substrate 10 on opaque films 14', so that a ray 22 incident to an opaque film 14 is refracted by the surface of the transparent film 20 and concentration on the photoelectric conversion part 11. The transparent film 21 is in a leftward slanting-up shape having recessed parts almost in the center of opaque films 14' and has surfaces parallel to the surface of the substrate 10 on opaque films 14, so that a ray 23 incident to an opaque film 14' is refracted by the surface of the transparent film 21 and converged on the photoelectric conversion part 11. |
