PURPOSE:To obtain a light transmitting plate which transmits a nearly desired quantity of light in various directions, can be easily manufactured by casting synthetic resin, and has superior strength, by partially embedding tapelike materials arranged in stripes in a transparent resin substrate so as to form one united platelike body. CONSTITUTION:Many tapelike materials 2 arranged in stripes are embedded partially or entirely in a transparent resin substrate 1 so as to form one united platelike body. Transparent acrylic resin or unsatd. polyester resin which can be cast and polymerized is used as the resin of the substrate 1. Since the materials 2 are embedded in the substrate 1, they are required to be different from the substrate 1 in optical characteristics. When surface layers 1a are formed on both sides of the substrate 1 after entirely embedding the materials 2, the substrate 1 is just like one layer. Accordingly, the resulting light transmitting plate can be handled in the same manner as an ordinary transparent plate, and interlaminar stripping is not caused at all. |
