Transfer printing dyes of anthraquinone series - for use on polyester fibres and blends with cotton

Anthraquinone dyes of formula (I) are used in transfer printing process (where R' and R2 are halogen) (I) give red shades of very good wet and light-fastness. In an example a carrier paper is flexo-printed with a mixt. contg. 10 pts. dye of formula (I) in which R' is cl and R2 is Br 5 pts. ethyl cellulose, 70 pts. ethyl alcohol, 20 pts ethyl acetate and 5 pts. ethylene glycol. After drying it is used for transfer printing of polyester knitted fabric by passing through a calender with contact of 30s at 210 degrees C. A red print on a white ground is obtd.
