Coating for glass and ceramic surfaces - prepd. in two layers, combining elasticity with surface toughness

A coating is prepd. by first applying an under-layer contg. a hydroxylated prod. which is a polyester, polyetherpolyol, polycaprolactone- polyol or hydroxylated polyesterdiisocyanate adduct, and a cross-linking agent, and cross-linking this under-layer by heating. A surface layer contg. a film-producing material which is a hydroxylated polyester, epoxy resin, or acrylic resin possibly modified, and a cross-linking agent is then applied and cross-linked by thermal treatment. Both layers are applied to thickness of 20-80 (30-60) mu. The combination of toughness of the surface layer and elasticity of the under-layer makes this coating partic. useful for glass bottle surface.
